Integrated Client/Server Download and Installation
Current Version: 1.0e, released 4/21/00
Download Instructions:
During the beta testing phase, Land of Devastation is
distributed in a standalone version. This is most convenient for
beta testers since it involves little configuration effort -- you
just execute the game and play. Once initial beta testing is
complete and the system becomes semi-stable, we will begin to
distribute NETLOD as seperate client and server programs.
Please check the known bugs and
unimplemented features list regularly to see what is and
isn't working.
You must be running Microsoft Internet Explorer
5.0 to run the client side (Gterm) of NETLOD.
You may download NETLOD as a single large zip file, or as a
series of zip files for each disk:
Single file download:
All Disks
Seperate files:
disk1
disk2
disk3
disk4
disk5
disk6
Requirements:
- You must be running a recent version of Microsoft
Internet Explorer (I suggest IE5.0) to use
the client side (Gterm) portion of NETLOD. This is
because NETLOD uses HTML as a text format and Gterm uses
the Internet Explorer engine to render the HTML pages
on-screen. Personally, I use IE5.0, but other versions
should work as well.
- Windows 95/98/2000/NT
- Approximately 20MB of disk space is required.
Installation:
- Unzip the archive(s) into a temporary directory of your
choice. If you download the multiple-disk archives, then
you may unzip them all into the same directory.
- Run the Setup program. It is a standard
Installshield setup program that should feel very
familiar.
- Once setup is complete, you can execute Gterm and play
the standalone game.
